We bought a used 2015 Cutwater 30 CB with a BBQ grill mounted uncomfortably close to the OB motor mount. So far, we have only used the grill when the RIB and motor are in the water. I have not discovered a more logical and convenient location to eliminate this potential hazard in the cockpit. The bimini railing mounts add to the challenge. I am interested in how others have addressed this issue. Your input is appreciated. Click to enlarge image.

I have a 32 so it's a different situation, but struggled with the same issue. I would move the OB to the railing with a Sea-Dog Railing mount bracket. From your picture, that looks feasible.

There are outboard brackets that mount to the safety rail on the swim platform. You could mount it there facing fwd. Not sure if it would clear all of the dinghy brackets but might work. Kinda pricey but here is a link https://www.simplesystemmarine.com/stor ... Rails.html

Also depending on you comfort level you could put a fabric cover on the outboard, or just shield it with a big piece of tin foil when you need to cook with the outboard on the rail.

I used the fishing pole mount that allows me to swing the grill out the starboard side of the boat away from my swim platform and fuel box that on the corner

Thanks All! Your input has me thinking about the aft railing. I'll take measurements tomorrow.

That little Suzuki only weighs 30lbs but I would think about even that weight getting bounced around on the safety rail over time. The mounts fixings for those rails are good but can always be improved. Maybe some bigger fender washers under the platform as part of the project?

Good point Chimo!

We mount our 6hp (60lbs) on the swim step rail. We tie the swim rail to the boat cockpit rail with a removable rail to add strength. 5 years and no problems. The added rail can be quickly removed when the dinghy and motor are in use. Pics Below. Note: I no longer mount the dinghy motor outboard of the rail as it tended to hit the dinghy. Works great mounted inboard on the same mount shown.

That stiffener from Red Raven is a great solution!
