New to me RT25sc with the single burner alcohol/electric stove and was wondering if anyone has made a successful conversion to propane? Or even to the Wallas diesel stove? I understand all the difficulties of converting to propane: no dedicated locker for the tank at the moment, not much room for anything more than a single burner on the counter top, etc. I'm not a fan of using alcohol and don't want to have to run the generator every time we want to cook a meal or boil water, surely I'm not the first to prefer using propane and wanting to make the improvement. Anyone done this in a way they are satisfied with? Thanks for any ideas, suggestions.

Agreed, the alcohol+electric cooktops are terrible away from shore power.
I’d just go with a simple, small butane camping stove. Only one burner but they stow away well, heat fast and are pretty inexpensive.

We're starting to lean towards something similar, but a small single burner propane using the 1 pound bottles instead of butane. Still the hassle of safely storing the portable bottles, but they'll work for the Magma grill as well. I see that they sell refillable bottles, so thinking maybe take 3 or 4 with us. If we're planning to be out more than a week or two then we'd strap a 10 pound fiberglass tank to the roof and use it to refill the portables as needed. Not ideal, but maybe workable. Anyone done anything similar?

For the Magma grill we use a Flame King 5 pound propane bottle. The same size used in the C-28 propane locker for the cabin’s cooktop+oven. A six foot hose is enough to connect the tank to the grill. I don’t see why you couldn’t just securely strap one of those to the swim platform. A number of marinas in BC will refill them for you.
The refills for a butane cooktop are really quite small in size.
