Will a standard size bbq tank, 20# I think, fit in propane locker on the swim platform on a R 31 2014?
New to us and never used before
Thanks

ScottyMac,

We use two 5lbs tanks currently. If you want you could strap the tank to the platform but it won't fit in the stock propane locker we provide.

Thank you,
Kevin Lamont

Our boat is 1 1/2 years old and we have not yet switched to second 5 lb tank. Maybe this weekend when the 1st mate makes the fresh blueberry muffins we may need it.
But my point is that two 5 lb bottles are convenient and adequate.

Can we retrofit out 2011 R29 with the swim platform tank holder?

We had a 2011 R29 classic and we did retrofit with the propane box on the platform. It was a huge improvement. Getting the 20 lb tank out from under the fish sink in the cockpit in order to refill it was a real hassle as the sink had to be disconnected and lifted out. Furthermore, moving the propane to the swim platform freed up lots of storage space under the cockpit fish sink. My friend, also with a 2011 R29, did the same.

Our dealer advised us four years ago that the Manchester 5lb propane tank fits perfectly in our swim platform locker on the C30. Bought a pair for less than $50 each from Ace Hardware but doesn't look like they carry them any more. Found them at these two links for quite a bit more $$:

Our boating never really required use of the propane tanks (we had purchased to power Lehr propane outboard) so ours just ended up corroding over the years. Took them off the boat due to the corrosion and now just use the small one time use canisters (still have the original one from 4 years ago!).

Is the swim platform tank holder available from the factory? If so, does anyone know the cost?
