Has anyone added bumpers to the corners of their swim platform?

Looking for options.

We don't have our boat yet, so I don't know what kind of protection would be needed, or the exact shape to protect the corners. But maybe something like the dock corner bumpers made by some companies (this one made by Taylor, photo from West Marine's website)? They come in various sizes (like 6" and 10", running between about $10 and $20). Not sure how they would be best attached, though . . .

Since the swim platform is recessed a bit, we have not noticed the need for fenders on the corners. Different situations maybe. The fenders on the dock side of the boat keep the platform away from the dock.

Im wondering if one could use the flexible door side molding used on cars and pickups. It comes in many sizes, can be bent, cut and sticks on. Ive seen it in all rubber or rubber/chrome combos. It wouldnt be a fender, but might act like a rub rail that could be easily replaced if scraped into. Car parts stores carry some of it as does JC Whitney on line.

McMaster-Carr has an amazing supply of hardware, fittings, and various kinds of parts and materials for fixing, fabricating or manufacturing anything in your imagination. They sell a wide range of rubber and other kinds of moldings. Anyone interested in that kind of an option might check out this link. Or just look around generally on their website. They are not marine specific, so when it comes to metal parts, some caution is called for.
