I've posted or commented on a few posts since I purchased my a low hours 2022 Cutwater C24 in March. I've spent last few months prepping my NT32+ for sale, then prepping the C24 for this season. There have been issues (actually problems), and I'll be posting questions as I go through this process. Boat is in the water and we're getting ready (2 months late) to do some cruising and fishing in the Southern New England coast. Here's a list of of some of my issues:
1. Removed cockpit electric grill and TV. Not being used. Do a lot of fishing and I'll be using the live well. Replaced grill with Starboard cutting board.
2. As reported in an earlier post, the Kenyon electric/alcohol cooktop flared up after using the electric coil, and melted the coil dial. I removed and dumped it. I replaced it with a butane cooktop, and will fill in the stove opening and cover the counter top with new Formica (more counter space).
3. Raptor decking is garbage. Most panel had curled up, some more than others. I re-glued (Weldwood contact cement) all panels in cockpit, and one corner of a panel on swim platform. The large center panel came un-glued 2 days later after some rain, and will require another re-glue. If this decking continues in this way, I'll remove the whole mess over the Winter.
4. Air conditioner doesn't work. Getting a Webasto "E1" error, an indication of low battery voltage or water flow issue. Not a priority. Will investigate.
5. Just completed solar panel install. I mounted a BougeRV 200 watt flexible panel on awning, a MPPT 30A controller, directly connected to the house batteries. That will serve us on the hook, with the fridge the only big 12 volt user.
6. Will install Sirius XM marine antenna this week.
If I had contact to the previous owner, some of my questions would have been answered, however, this was a brokered sale, and broker didn't know squat. While dealing with other issues, looking for some quick comments on a few issues:
1. Batteries: this C24 has 5 batteries. Two AGMs for the house, and one wet cell engine start battery in port locker. Starboard locker has the AGM thruster battery (clearly marked), and there's a 5th AGM next to it. Without doing some tracing, anyone know what the 5th battery is for?
2. What is the "accessory" circuit breaker on the shore power panel for?
3. What is the "accessory" 12V rocker switch on the console for? Boat is wired for downriggers, but none installed. I'll put a multimeter on the cockpit receptacles tomorrow. Maybe that 5th battery?
