r 21 ec first mate seat

in my search of the r21 i have ben looking at drawings that show it may be possible to add a second seat the same as the captains seat installed. looks like there is room, obviously will lose some access to storage but will make us both at the same level.
has any one done this?

Not exactly sure what you mean. 21-ec already has a removable cushion that sits on top of the sink/stove area, with a footrest. That constitutes a second seat.

coc John, the bench seat on the port side (passenger seat) covers the sink and one burner stove, there is a foot rest and is an out 2 to 4 inches higher than the helm seat. Both are a little high for us short legged sailors! To make it more user friendly I place a Coleman stackable cooler in the area fwd of both and is great for extra storage (either the 24 or 25 can model) and for the helm is a must. I'm sure once you see the R21EC you will see what I'm talking about. Good luck on your purchase. Bob

the port seat just looks ungainly there and i am hoping i can rig a second seat that is the same as the helm. Bob, you are right, i may change my mind when we really use one. it does appear that the foot placement is a problem too. I do have a cnc machine and am itching to have a project or two.
