Hey Kap'n Karl. I've seen a lot of water under the Dam plying this pond for 52 summers. There are plenty of marinas. The problem in most of them are maxed out on long term slips. Try Sunrise Cove Marina on the Flowery Branch, GA side of the marina. I did get a transient slip there. Conversely, you can always get a slip at Sunset Cove, at Lake Lanier Islands, but this is hard partying dock crowd. You can park your boat there over night and bed down at the resort a mile away that is also part of Lake Lanier Islands. If you like golf, you're in luck too. Lot's of restaurants on the lake with good menus! Big change from the old days. It's a big lake, 700 miles of shore line. It get's very congested on weekends, (welcome to Atlanta) or go north if you seek less congestion. A very quite week day lake. Also, check further north, Gainesville Marina for available transient slips. If you are operating at night, ensure all your running lights are operative. Regrettably we have experienced many deaths on this lake. Multiple agencies are sitting idle in the coves ready to enforce and run safety checks. (Watch the cove you select to skinny dip in for that very reason too!) Was on the lake this morning and watched 6 young people from my boat, commit to following Christ in Baptism on the shore of Buford Dam Park. It's a favorite spot for several congregations. Great start to a day on the lake.
