The new R–25SC cockpit (aft deck) is 25% larger than our original R–25 giving it nearly 50 Square feet of aft deck space.

I just purchased a 2014. Does anyone have an idea when the above change was made. Not sure if I have the 50 sq. feet......I would measure, but the boat is stored three hours away.

Thank you

I think your calculations are off. The cockpit is only 8 feet wide, for 50 extra square feet the cockpit would have had to of grown 6 feet. I am guessing the best you have is 12 additional square feet.

Not sure??? I copied the statement from the RANGER webpage ........Just not sure what year they made this change?

If the new cockpit area is 50 sqft and is 125% of the old cockpit area, then the old was 40 sqft and the increase was 10 sqft which means the new, 8-foot-wide cockpit would have to be 1.25 feet longer than the old, which sounds reasonable to me...none of which answers the OP question.

The SC designation on your R25 stands for Sport Cockpit which is the same cockpit that is on the R27. When Ranger designed the R27 they realized the cockpit with the engine access all in the cockpit had advantages and thus the R25 Classic got re-designed into the R25SC. I am not positive but I think the 2012 model year was the year they switched.

We are in the process of adding the R25SC to our website and updating the information on our R29. These changes will not be in place until the end of next week. Meanwhile.... Here is a sneak preview of the R25SC video walk through http://www.motorboating.com/videos.jsp? ... 2494717001 ...

Re: The newly designed R25 (with extra 2' cockpit)
I like your ideas Denny O. Bruce Moore will be posting a video of the newly designed R25SC sometime soon on the tugnuts for you to view. I think you might be on to something Denny. I will put my keyboard to rest now. 😀

The Ranger Tug 25SC was introduced to the public in February 2010. Not sure exactly which month the production changed over from the 25 Classic to the 25SC. The "extra" 1.5 to 2.0 feet in length of the cockpit area was gained by shortening the interior cabin length by the same amount. The overall length of the 25SC and the 25 Classic is the same.
See this video for the introduction announcement.

Thank you for all the information

Just a note in my original question: The deck is not an additional 50 square feet of deck space rather 50 is the grand total of deck area.
