While on an overnight last week in Poulsbo, we had a fan running to cool the cabin down. After running for 3 hrs, the fan stopped. I check the power panel and we had a reverse polarity on the panel. I took a look at the shore power cord and it had a little corrosion on the shore end. I cleaned it off, but it still would not work. It was after hours, so we unplugged. I assumed it was the shore power outlet, so we reported it to the marina in the morning. They could care less.

When we got home I plugged in and we still had the same issue. So I ordered a new cord and also the SmartPlug. They should be here on Tuesday to install.

A couple of months ago I installed galvanic isolator. I figured I would check my work to make sure there was not another issue with the wiring I did. There was not. I dug a little deeper and pulled out the ELCI Maim 30A panel. To my surprise, there was corrosion on the back side of the panel. I was surprised that since the back of the panel is in the battery bay that it was not better sealed. I ordered a new panel which will be here in 3 - 6 weeks.

My question is, has anyone had this issue? Also for the backing of the panel, has anyone come up with a way to have a better seal so it is not so exposed to the element?

Thanks,

Thanks for the advice. I was having a hard time finding the Blue Sea 1502 panel, so I contacted Blue Sea. For those that might need the breaker, they said the 3102100 is the replacement breaker in the 1502 panel. My panel was corroded beyond repair. So I opted for the 8100 panel. Functionally the 8100 does the same electrically as the 1502 just in a different form factor. It barely fit in the space. I also got the 4026 back cover to protect the back from any moisture. The only issue is the front of the panel is exposed. I think my winter project will be to reorganize the way the wires are so I can get a weather proof box in there to protect the new panel. But for now the 4026 will have to do.

I also did check the outlets. No issues, so it must have been the breaker.
