R-27 Classic - Heat in V-birth

Has anyone added duct work to route heat from the Webasto furnace directly into the V-birth? Unless I'm missing something, it seems like it would be pretty easy to do as the furnace is right outside the birth on the port side. I love the heater and use it often but it might be a bit more efficient if the heat could be directed into the birth during sleeping periods. Thoughts?

Hello Mark

Our 2017 R25SC has such a duct. I can't see the complete route it takes from the Webasto as it goes under the port locker and emerges into the forward locker before making the turn and coming out under the centre cushions. There is a rotary damper so that flow can be controlled or closed off if not required. Let me know if photos would help or maybe take a look at a tug of our era and type.

Our R27 Classic has the same air duct configuration that Chimo describes. Far forward end of the space under the center cushions.

Well, now you've got me very curious as I don't recall seeing anything under the center cushions. I'm going to take a careful look and report back....

My 2016 R27 also has a duct in the Vberth as described by others above.

I also have a duct at the dinette, to the side of the forward dinette seat. That one's a bit problematic. If that seat is flipped to seat-forward mode that vent is pretty much blocked and the upholstery gets blazing hot if the Webasto is turned on. Always got to remember to flip that seat into dinette mode before turning on the Webasto.

On TOUCAN, we removed the heater outlet under the V-berth cushions and and installed it on the vertical surface below the lower step to the passenger seat.

The output from the engine powered heater tends to cook the passenger. Has anyone used louvers or similar to redirect the output from this heater?

Just a quick follow up on this. I was down at the boat yesterday and once again all of you are correct. I do have a vent under the center cushions. The damper had never been opened so there was no heat coming out. After a bit on tinkering it is now happily warming up the V-birth. Thanks again everyone for all the help.
