We are the proud owners of a new 2011 R 29 purchased from Farallone Yachts Alameda CA. Roger, Dinah and Patty were great to do business with. Nevertheless we have one problem - how to mount the inflatable and motor. The inflatable is several years old and the outboard a 2 stoke 8HP Nissan, both in good shape and perform well. A new smaller dink with a 2-4 HP does't meet our needs. We want to keep the inflatable inflated, motor attached, on the R 29 year around. On our previous boat , a Beneteau 411 (41'8") we had the Weaver system which was good but still the hassle of taking the outboard on and off. My wife is not that strong and I'm not getting any younger. We have ruled out a cabin top mount. Our slip is 32' so the Hurley system is out. One solution might work - All Inflatables davit complete pivoting system. (allinflatables.com). Any comments pro or con would be appreciated. Paul & Lynn.

I am not sure why you ruled a cabin top solution. We put a Pacer Lift on the boat which is 12 volt and easy to use with a remote control. The lift on our boat is primarily used for kayaks but Sheared Dreams keeps thier inflatable and motor on the top. The Pacer is capable of lifting 200 lbs, which in most cases is more than adequate and can launch a craft from either side of the Ranger.
Congratulations on your new boat, you have made an excellent choice.

Slackwater Jack. The system I mentioned in my post includes the rotating motor mount.

Nellie Two. The Pacer lift is a possibility. However we don't like the hatches to be covered with a dinghy and solar panels while in our slip. Quite often we have dinner and cocktails on the boat in the slip and like the open feeling with the view from the hatches unobstructed. Also we would be uncomforable coming back from the Delta to SF Bay into an ebb. It gets downright nasty and we would not know how the dinghy is riding on top of the cabin. With the Weaver davits on our sailboat it was no problem and the dinghy was within view at all times. The All Inflatable complete system is similar to the Weaver with the exception the motor in attached to the dinghy and not to a railing. Our preferences and concerns are personal and certainly not applicable to other owners.

Thanks to you both for replying. Paul & Lynn.
