a person can still buy dipstick heaters that really do a pretty good job of keeping the whole block above freezing temps if that is what you are referencing.

.. I hadn't heard of a dipstick heater but will look into it .. I was thinking of something similar to a cars screw in block heater as used on the prairies, that you plug in at night during minus temperatures ..

I looked into installing an inline (water) heater that would connect to the heater hose and would have a circulating pump on it in order to provide cabin heat without running an electric heater and keep the engine warm. Everyone I talked to thought it was a great idea but really didn't know how to do it.
