.. can anyone with an R21 Classic with the boom supported bimini sun /rain top tell me if the material used for the battens was wood and if so what the dimensions are .. I know a batten can be made of just about anything but looking at some of the album pictures, wood seemed to be the preferred material and maybe lent better support for the boom style .. TIA .. Rob ..

The material is not wood. It is some kind of white plastic material that is quite flexible and is about 1.5 x 0.25 inches. Nellie May I is under a snow drift so I can't get to her to get the length dimensions until we get some melting.

Frozen in the Dakotas,

As I do not have a Ranger, I can only add that if the battens are sail battens, then the material is likely reinforced fiberglass, as shown in the sailrite link.

Dug her out of the snow drift and did some measurements. Battens are 69.5 inches long and 1.75 x 0.25 inches. White plastic-like material.

Hope this helps....

... Thank you for all that effort .. does sound like fiberglass .. has anyone in Canada come across an outlet for this material ?? Rob
