Our 2007 R21-EC does not have a pilot house heater. Reading the current equipment list it appears that it is a standard item now. I expected to find a unit much like an auto heater using heat from the engine's fresh-water side. I suspect it was not standard in 2007 or the boat was ordered with the heater deleted. Our best seasons for boating here run from Fall through Spring, so a bit of heat might come in handy at times.

Using "search" I think I am probably right about the source of the heat. But I have also seen reference to the heater fan and to the heater fuse. Obviously it is a bit more complictated than a simple radiator.

I'd appreciate it if someone would give me details about the type, the location, the connection to the water supply, and maybe even the brand of the cabin heater. If anyone's album has a picture of one as installed, please let me know which album. I have looked at about all I can think of on the factory site to find a picture, but so far have struck out, either not seeing one or not recognizing it if I have.

Thanks.

The heater that came in my 2010 R21-EC is located in the right hand console under the pilot chair between the refer and the electrical access door. It is a car type heater in that it works off engine cooling water. It has a 3-speed (4-position switch) located on top of the right console, just aft of the throttle

The heater is made by Heater Craft, but I do not know what model it is. The paperwork I received is generic installation instructions for all of Heater Craft's models. It looks like it might be a 5-H Series heater http://www.heatercraft.com/category.aspx?categoryID=37. I bet if you gave Andrew a call he could give you more specific info, and might even give you a deal on it.

I have used the heater just twice and it worked great both times. The last time I used it, the outside temp was 43 and the cabin temp was 76 with the fan on low. I had to keep turning the heater off because it was running me out of the cabin. I learned that you do not want to run the heater with the pilot's seat folded down on top of the vent.

I do not think it would be difficult to install it yourself if you are handy with your hands. You would have to pull the refer out so you can route two water hoses from the engine, under the deck, to the right console (it could be a tight fit). Also, it would be easier to cut the access hole, mount the heater, and run the wiring with the refer out.

Thank you. That pretty much confirms what I suspected and gives me enough detail to chase down the heater itself. One problem bypassed is that our 2007 has no refrigerator, either. That should make the whole procedure much simpler.

I would contact the factory. They could more than likely put together the entire kit of what you would need and ship it to you.

I agree with everyone as far as talking to Andrew at the factory first. Also, if it helps, I uploaded some pics to Album: Kamalani showing the installed hoses on the 3YM30. Good luck with the project.

On my engine, the thermostat housing has the takeoff and return ports for water to go to and return from the heater.

The heater is great. I love being on the water in the cooler and colder months, that heater will drive me out out the cabin if I keep it running.

Al, There is a spiffy kit from Yanmar that has the engine side plumbing . We have retroed one before . Alan in my shop has done it before . The heater is made by Heatercraft. It should all fit nicely . You will increase the coolant capacity , and Yanmar does not want you to mix types . FYI

Heater Motor and Heater Assembly. Moisture in boat caused lower heater motor bearing to fail and the parts are difficult to both identify and source.
I finally found that Maradyne T1160007M blower assy. is available and is the same as the Heater-Craft 500H in my 2006 R21 EC.
It is under $100 USD. Summit Racing usually stocks this item and ships from several locations in USA
