R21-EC helmsman's footrest

I have ordered an R21-EC and am looking forward to July delivery. It seems to me that the seated helmsman's feet -- which might be dirty or wet -- end up on or right over the starboard berth cushion. I'd like to find a way to protect the berth cushion other than moving it to some other location (vacant space is less than abundant in an R21). Has anyone worked out a flip-up or flip-down or slide-into-place means of protecting the cushion? I'm looking for something that doesn't consume much storage space or obstruct the berth when it is used for sleeping. I'd like it to channel any water onto the cabin sole and not the berth area.

I used a piece of vinal fabric that extended about 18 inches onto the v-birth and over the teak footrest/headboard. It folded up neatly and stored on the side of the portable toilet.
