Welcome to the forum. 21's equipped with the Volvo Penta engines have the hours shown in the tachometer. I presume it's the same with the Yanmar.

We had a 2009 R-21EC with the Yanmar 3YM30 Diesel engine. The engine hours were displayed on a meter at the bottom of the tachometer. It’s a common problem for this display to go blank. There is a YouTube site that shows how to make a temporary repair but it may be easier to replace the digital screen which is also an easy repair.
