I have never been able to successfully pump out my holding tank using the starboard deck waste port. I've had to use a long vacuum attachment and come through the forward skylight and directly into the tank. Blech.
From reading older posts it looks like I could benefit from an adaptor. Does anyone use one? Is the waste port a 1 1/4" or 1 1/2" diameter? Any other pro tips?

Hi Joe,

The thread size of the waste tank pump-out fitting is 1-1/4". What issues are you experiencing during pump-out? It's a relatively short run from the tank to the fitting, and I haven't heard of any other R21's with similar issues. I would also check the 'fill' hose routing to ensure there are no kinks anywhere along the way. You would also want to check the hose connections/clamps to make sure everything is okay there. One last check would be to fill the tank with water through the pump-out fitting and see how well it flows into the tank. This last check would confirm there are no clogs in the hose itself. If still experiencing issues please feel free to give us a call at the office (253-839-5213) and we'd be glad to help.

Thanks,
Tim

I made a PVC adapter to use on my 25SC for easier access under the rail. There are pics in my album, not sure if this will help on the 21.

Problem probably identified.

After a brief chat with Tim (thanks Tim!) at the factory it appears that the hose leading to the pump out fitting and the hose coming from the toilet have been switched on the holding tank.

The pump out connection to the holding tank should have an extension to the bottom of the tank and the hose from the toilet should just empty at the top. With them switched, the pump out is just sucking air from the top. And I'm probably lucky the toilet hasn't plugged up yet pushing everything to the bottom.

I only say "probably" identified since I haven't switched them back yet, but it certainly seems like the culprit. Some work was done on the toilet just before I bought the boat, so thats probably when it happened.
