R21 Surrey Top

We own a 2006 R21 with a surrey top. We guess that we're about the 3rd or fourth owners and have owned it now for two years. It has been joy and we expect to own it for several more. This year we've had all the cushions on the rear deck and engine cover reupholstered. The surrey top on the boat is looking somewhat dingy compared with the new cushions and some of the stitching is beginning to come loose from the velcro hold downs. We have also noticed zipper sections in some areas and the material is a vinyl coated canvas. We are not even certain that this the original top. Any information about the surrey tops would be welcome as we begin to plan for it's replacement.

Hello Bill,

Thank you for reaching out. It has been quite some time since these were built and the original designer is no longer doing canvas. We then had King Marine do it out of Ballard, WA but I am doubtful they have any patterns or anything to work off of. Sorry to say but this would need to be done with someone local in the canvas business. Should be pretty straight forward for them as they wont need to bend or create any stainless.

.. is this an R21EC or the R21 Classic ?? .. I was told that there was an overlap on the 2006 year .. the Classic used the boom as the supporting frame ..

We have an '09 EC and our surrey, like yours started to fail on the Velcro stitching.
We sent it back to "King Canvas" and they used it as a pattern.
They re-stitched it and made us a new one, including matching the enclosure.
Pleased with the results.
