Can anyone tell me where to/how to source the replacement black-coloured plastic protective covers which clip onto the base of the window wiper shafts, situated at the outside/base of the windows. Mine have become brittle with age and exposure to the elements. They are purely protective covers for the shaft at the base of the wiper cantilever and have no real aesthetic value, however without them it may allow salt and water to enter and cause some corrosion and/or stiffness of movement over time. Your thoughts, please. Regards, Stevan

Hello Stevan,

Are you referring to the piece at the bottom-left of this pic?

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, my recollection is that the "cap" like base covering the AFI wiper motor shaft is PART OF the wiper arm. There is a pin through it which sort of "hinges" it to the base of the arm so you can swing it up out of the way to access the nut which holds the arm to the shaft. I think this is what you see in the pic above. So, if my memory is right, you will need to buy an new arm assembly.

Hi Stevan,
The only way you can get those caps is by buying the wiper arm 🙁 being a retired panel beater we have NEVER been able to source them as a separate part🙁

Hi Dave and Peter: Bloody hell, you guys are quick! Were you just waiting breathlessly for my post, or what? Thanks anyway for the quick response. Yes, Dave, the picture depicts it well - the little cap at the base of the wiper arm assembly is the one - they just clip into place. Well, I sort of thought that would be the case - nothing is easy, is it? I will shop around for wipers I guess, but in the meantime, seeing as they are working okay, I might just 'jury rig' something to cover the shaft for the time being and see what develops. Many thanks to you guys. Peter - we have to catch up for coffee and a cruise one day. Regards to you both and stay safe.
