Accustomed to spending 4 months a year on a sailboat on Georgian Bay/North Channel of Lake Huron, circumstances forced downsizing. The R21EC fit the bill perfectly, except for inadequate storage for longer cruises. Solution, primed by "Pilotnavigator," was to go aloft, under the Bimini.
For ~CDN$150, added some 8 cubic feet of overhead storage for lifejackets, fenders and enclosure panels, etc., by building a 4'x4'x6" bin suspended under the 6'9" (max) canopy, reducing functional headroom to approximately 5'10".
Hinged jaw slides, two thwartship and one longitudinal 7/8" tubing provide a solid support frame. Used Baltic Birch ply; left natural, protected with water-based polyurethane. Forced to use 1/2" ply because 1/4" or 3/8" was not available locally; may reconsider. Bin secured to tubing with copper pipe straps; corners protected with 1 1/2" brass trunk corners. Esthetics of side views are not affected as bin is enveloped by Bimini curvature.
