As a relatively new R21EC owner I've not had any problems with my bilge pump, but it seems like a component that needs redundancy especially for any longer excursions. I used to have a small C-Dory which had a Whale manual backup bilge pump installed on the transom. Has anyone added one of these to an R21EC and what turned put to be a good mounting location?

I’ve not done what you’ve asked but I do have an alternative idea I put into place. I took a bilge pump motor attached to its canister, wired long positive and negative wires to it and secured an alligator clip to the end of each. I then attached a long hose to the discharge part of the pump and now have a portable water pump. I made it for emergency purposes and to pump out the dinghy if it gets overloaded with rain water. Simply connect a clip to each post of a battery and you’re good to go.

My thoughts exactly. I placed mine just behind the other and y'd off to the same hose feeding the thru-hull. I run it with a manual switch.
