Hello all,

Has anyone had any experience fixing the fuel venting issue on the R21? Every few days there is a small puddle of fuel on the stern puddling up right below the vent and spilling overboard. Any fixes?

Appreciate any insight.

If you do a search you will find that it has been discussed several times. Basically if the vent line lays flat where it run across the width of the tank you will have this issue. You need to have a gradual rise in the hose from the port side up to the vent on the starboard side. You may have to shorten your hose to do this.

On mine I cut a long strip of rigid foam in the shape of a tapered wedge and secured it under the hose. I had to shorten my hose by 1"-2". No issue since I did this.

On the older tugs the vent is on the port side right above the tank vent with about 2 to 3 inches of vent hose and no ball check valve. To fix the problem on my boat I replaced the fitting on the tank with a 90 degree fitting and bought about 4 ft of vent hose, made about 3 loops, tied them together and replaced. This eliminates about 90% of the burping. I usually only fill the tank so I have a few inches of space at the top of the tank. If you text me I will send you a picture of my fix, my phone number is in my photo album. Bob
