I have owned, and own, first a R21 and now an R21 Ec for the last 10 years.
I am seriously thinking about moving to an R25, used. I really like my 21, I am
on a lake but can, and have trailered to the coast, Savannah. I have never been
on a R25 but I would like the added cabin room and ability to cruise longer
and in more comfort. My dilemma is I am 74 and can't work on a boat systems
like I use to. Knees are shot, eyesight getting dim and various old guy stuff .
My first thing is to find someone's I can look at to see if I really like it. Second
is I would be looking at around a 2010 , maybe older and I am not sure that I
can work on it or even find someone who can within a fair distance of Atlanta.
The point behind the post is I am just curious what other Tugnuts think. Not looking
for what I should do - just ruminating about it.
I am happy with my R21 but just... you know...... one footitis

Dear Onefootitis. I can understand your desire. As a previous owner of a R-21EC, and in my 60’s, the dream of going bigger struck me last year. The first mate wanted more room so we looked into and purchased a 2018 R-23. One of our best decisions and no regrets. Not only is it bigger than the R-21EC but I t is still trailerable, easily managed by the two of us and with the outboard DYI maintenance is still easy for routine things. We did look at a 25 but for us we felt the R-23 made more sense to us.
Cheers,
Karl and Sara
