Which boat would perform better in choppy conditions, or for making a 75 mile trip mostly in a sound and inner banks.
The horse power of the R21ec is a concern.
 
Welcome! No experience with the R23, but a 75 mile trip in the R21 would take 10 hours, however, would only burn 5 gallons of fuel 😀 And due to its hull design, increasing the hp would not appreciably increase its speed. Handles choppy water just fine IMO

The R23 would cover the 75 miles in roughly 3 hours. At 3 mpg, that's roughly 25 gallons.
So, the trade off is time vs. cost (all other things being equal).
