I have a 2018 R23. The forward and aft bilge pumps start and instantly stop on about a 1 -2 minute cycle. The bilge is bone dry. This has been occurring since I bought the boat, but I couldn't identify the source of the short "whir" until it was dark and I noticed the light on the panel switch flash with the noise. I notice this when anchored or at the dock. I suspect it happens all the time, but I don't hear it.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

The bilge pumps on my 27OB do the same thing. From what I have been told, this is normal. There is no float switch, the pump turns on and it looks at the current draw. If the draw is low, there is no water and it stops. If the current draw is high, then there is water and it runs until the current draw is low. I am sure if this is wrong, somebody will correct it.

I believe you have the new Rule 1100 automatic pumps. I just replaced my original 2017 aft pump with the annoying two finger sensor with one of these. It’s a big improvement! The pump cycles every 2.1/2 minutes. Current draw is negligible. Didn’t you get a manual? If not one can be downloaded from the Rule site.

Agree. These are automatic pumps that cycle about every two minutes. Minimal power draw so that is not an issue. I like them. Some don’t like the noise. I myself can’t hear the noise over my first mate telling me how to dock or anchor.

Many thanks for the replies. It is a Rule 1100 so I guess it is functioning properly. Maybe it will be less irritating now that we know what it is.
