Performance curve for Nixie. Sweet spot seems to be about 3500rpm. I'm new at this, any tips would be great!
😀
When posting performance numbers it's critical you state the boat's state such as
1) Number of people (adults & children) on board
2) Fullness in gallons of fuel tank, holding tank and freshwater tank (and Webasto diesel fuel tank is equipped)
3) Sea state such as wave height and swell etc
4) If possible record numbers for short runs one way and then reverse the course and record numbers again to compensate for wind and current.
5) State if kicker motor installed
6) Try to estimate weight of all the stowed gear onboard.
For example my new 2018 R-27/OB weighed 8,300 lbs with 60 gallons of fuel, a full 5 gallon diesel tank for the Webasto, full fresh water tank, zero fill for holding tank and no people on board. About 2 weeks later, with a full 150 gallons on board, loads of gear stowed, no people on board the boat weighed 9,200 lbs.
Today I was out for a short cruise with 7 people on board (4 adults and there children. I had a ton of gear on board as well as some heaving crabbing gear. Fuel tank was around 140 gallons, full fresh water tank, zero filled holding tank and 5 gallons of diesel fuel for Webasto. I had a 12.5 foot kayak on to of roof. The sea was a small chop and current for the most part was against me. Wind speed below 10 mph hitting my port beam. At around 25-30 mph I was hard presses to see better than 1.8 mpg. With a much lighter load with just 2 adults onboard I've seen 2.6 mpg at same speed and same sea conditions.
