During process of winterizing rear wash down system on my R23 - I was attempting to open outside plastic bulkhead mounted valve lever. The washdown system had not been used all summer and the lever with small piece of plastic shaft attached broke off from valve. I assume the whole valve with hose connection needs to be removed and replaced. How to hard is this hose connection/valve fitting to remove/replace? Any thoughts on where I can get a refitting placement?

Mine needs replacing too on a 2017 R29. It is 90 deg once it goes it to wall. I bought “T. H. Marine Aerator Spray Head/Wash Down Combo” on amazon for about $22. Have not installed it yet. It t looks exactly the same except you also get a little nozzle jet at the hose end that is useless and removable. Just don’t use the jet. Access in my boat looks doesn’t look fun. You need to remove the rubber hose in the wall and remove the big nut. I can access it thru crawling in floor compartment and reaching up behind wall. You can also see it by removing the adjacent pump rocker switch. My big plastic nut broke on old one so valve flops around. When I tightened up the two pieces of the new one, the cock valve ended up on side rather than top, no big deal.

I’m not clear where your valve broke. If, like mine, it is just the valve and not the post, I replaced mine with a brass fitting from my local hardware store. It has lasted three times longer - so far, than the plastic valve. If you need to do more to fix, you’ll need to get behind the wall through accessing the center lazarette near the transom.

Tks for reply.. In my case just valve handle broke off valve... I probably will replace with a metal one. However. just in case I will pick up whole $13 assembly from west marine ...its a 2019 boat... hopefully I don't brake it off when I put the 3/4 wrench on valve assembly at bulkhead to remove it...

Hi there,

If all that broke was the valve handle, then you can simply unscrew it and replace with another one. Good idea on your part to purchase the whole assembly, just in case. Also, it may not be possible to just buy the little handle by itself. Fortunately, the assembly is not too expensive.

Cheers,

Ralf
