Dinette cushion mod. I would like to submit to RT an idea for changing the folding cushions for the dinette to bed conversion. I made a test cushion by cutting a 3/4 inch MDO to 15 x 28" (as I recall ) and covered it with 3" of foam rubber and then a non rip material. Then I covered with a dark brown material to match the color in the factory seat cushions. I place it under the dinette table against the port wall (where the table sits in down position). Now we can sit and eat (two of us) no problem, and if lounging or playing cards we can put one or both legs up on the new cushion to lounge back more like my recliner at home (feet a little warmer off the floor also). Little tight bending the leg around the table post, but even I can do it with bad knees.

If the factory would make the factory cushions for the top of the dinette table to those specs and divide it into 3 cushions that have board supports on the bottom like the V birth cushions, one can be used for the lounge transformation and the other two can be stored on top of the V birth back rests in the forward position. A little thinner foam to make the height correct for converting to a dinette birth and then add a little Velcro to the sides to hold together better while sleeping on.

One final thought that I missed but will re-mod later is to angle the the rear of the one cushion a little (/) or all so when the lounge cushion is being used it will not interfere with raising the rear dinette seat to access the cave easier. Tell me what you think...

Do you have any pics? I'm having trouble visualizing what/where you're talking about....

I don't use cloud storage and don't find an easy way to attach photos on this forum. If you PM me with a email i would be happy to.

Think of it as a U shaped dinette but you can't sit against the wall because the table goes all the way to the wall, so you can only lift your leg(s) up to rest under the table on the new seat section. Does that help paint the picture better?
