For those using the spares list from Ranger to outfit their R23 note that the current list does not include the Yamaha transom anode.

Our boat was in the water for 2 months in Friday Harbor and this zinc is in need of replacing. The part is not anything that I have been able to find locally but at this point I'm not worried about it as the boat is out of the water, but I prefer to have a spare set of zincs aboard.

If you are the same and wish to have this zinc on your boat you will need to order it specifically. I am sure that Richard will have the part in stock but it is not listed on the Yamaha spares list currently.

Just a heads up.

On my R-27 w/Yamaha F300 I also have noted the large plate-like anode at the base of the engine's transom mounting bracket has eroded quickly. The boat had been in salt water for only 4 weeks at the Port of Edmonds Marina.

When the engine had its 20 hr service I enquired about this with the Marina's adjacent Yamaha service shop (Jacobsen's Marine) and they responded saying replace it when the grooves have been worn down.

For me, I would expect this anode can be obtained readily at Jacobsen's when needed. In fact I'm going to order one today (and I recall the cost to be around $26) as my under water anode service that is performed by Double J Diving will be at my boat in November. They will replace this anode as necessary.

This anode cannot be seen easily, if at all, when the boat is in the water. Maybe a waterproof GoPro (for example) could be used to get a clear look at the anode's corrosion state ?

Thanks for the heads-up. 🙂

[EDIT]
P.S. Jacobsen's indicated the large 'Bar anode' cost $26.15 and they always have them in stock. There's another anode on the F300 called the Trim tab anode. It's kind of shark-fin-like to look at and this one will cost $28.15  . Looking at mine it's in good shape.... Why the small shark-fin-like anode cost more than the Bar anode is anyone's guess. The Bar anode is huge compared to the trim tab anode.... you go figure ????
