Vessel Name
SALLISON TOO (2017)
These numbers are from an engine with under 20 hours, still in break in, before 20 hour service. It was an overcast, cool day in the waters off Ipswich, Gloucester Ma, smooth to choppy conditions. Readings above 4K were difficult to write or photograph but I do remember that at 6K (WOT) max speed was 37 mph and 1 mpg. IMO, very fast for this vessel and things can go sideways quickly. Wind, wave conditions and the occasional large wave from out of nowhere are just some of the things we all deal with on a regular basis. Add speed and the degree of difficulty increases. All that said, I feel the 23 is as safe and seaworthy as my 27 was, just faster if and when you want it.

Man at 2k that thing flies and what great mileage at 20 mph and miles per gallon 3.6? What slows it down when rpm's increase over 2k ?

Kinda wondered the same thing....the 2K speed looks to be a typo, as that would seem to be very fast for that throttle setting.

So, I'm reading the reply’s and see Scuffys and think, “what's he talking about”? Yes, defiantly a misprint. There was a lot of repetitious info to type and I confuse easily. It should read:

2K
Speed: 20 mph should be 8 mph
Econ: 3.6 mpg
Flow: 2.2 gph

Mike, you are correct about plane. If you are at 3600 + and drop the trim tabs it will start to come up. If you don’t and you get over 4000 it will naturally come up. When I was first getting used to the power it was at about 3800 and it was at that in between stage and the engine was working harder than necessary and it hit a small wave that was just enough to set her on full plane. She went from 3800 and was climbing over 4500 with no throttle input. Not realizing what was going on and coming into traffic I backed it down to think things over.
Once on plane I retract the trim tabs and she smooth’s out quite nicely. I'm still trying to find the sweet spot and not much boat season left but I think its going to be 20 mph plus. Enough to keep it up on plane and get to point B. The engine is efficient and quite in the 6-8 mph range for river exploring.
