Hauled my boat to clean the bottom of my R23 and touch up some anti fouling areas, including the thruster tube and impeller. Before launch I by chance checked to make sure the impeller turned free. It did not…..it was literally glued to the tunnel with anti-fouling.

The normal clearance between the impeller and the tunnel is so narrow you could measure it with a feeler gauge. So anything that gets in there can easily jam the impeller, including paint, barnacles, etc.

Using a long screwdriver I was able to clean up the tunnel enough to free the impeller and turn it easily by hand.

Passing this along to avoid unnecessary blown fuses, broken shear pins, rehauls and a whole lot of !?X*!.
