I am about to hopefully repair my 140TT bowsthruster on my 2019 R23 --- hopefully just electric motor shear pin-- which just received pin from FISHERIES SUPPLY---My question :
1.access through v-birth hatch seems easy--- 4 -1/2" hold-down bolts seem accessible to remove-- I assume its best to remove all 12v power cables to remove motor &replace the brass shear pin (#559018)?
2. Once power cables are clear-- should the motor be lifted off the thruster hold -down plate by hand or possibly assist lift with rope tied to cabin ceiling?
3.How much trouble can I expect getting out /replacing the electric motor shear pin?
4. I am hoping my problem is simply the motor shear pin---Am I correct in assuming if i can turn the thruster drive shaft exposed at the top by hand or with some assistance with a pliers -- that the drive gears are OK?
5.What is best way of reinstalling & line up the drive shaft/newshear pin &4 plate hold-down bolts after reinstalling the electric motor shear pin motor back on to the thruster?
Any thoughts /guidance would be appreciated.
