I am about to hopefully repair my 140TT bowsthruster on my 2019 R23 --- hopefully just electric motor shear pin-- which just received pin from FISHERIES SUPPLY---My question :
1.access through v-birth hatch seems easy--- 4 -1/2" hold-down bolts seem accessible to remove-- I assume its best to remove all 12v power cables to remove motor &replace the brass shear pin (#559018)?
2. Once power cables are clear-- should the motor be lifted off the thruster hold -down plate by hand or possibly assist lift with rope tied to cabin ceiling?
3.How much trouble can I expect getting out /replacing the electric motor shear pin?
4. I am hoping my problem is simply the motor shear pin---Am I correct in assuming if i can turn the thruster drive shaft exposed at the top by hand or with some assistance with a pliers -- that the drive gears are OK?
5.What is best way of reinstalling & line up the drive shaft/newshear pin &4 plate hold-down bolts after reinstalling the electric motor shear pin motor back on to the thruster?
Any thoughts /guidance would be appreciated.

Just replaced my bow thruster today on my 2020 R23. It is a 110 not a 140. What year is your boat. On the 110 model it’s not hard. Start by turning off the master power. You disconnect the positive and negative cables , unplug the control cables, unbolt the 4 bolts on the plate and lift it out. The pin is on the motor side. I was not that lucky the gear box was shot. The plastic plug on the bottom was gone, box was full of water. Had to pull boat out of the water to change. Boat is in it’s 3rd season going to follow up with Lewmar to see if they will cover it. Yeah. Let me know how you make out. Good luck

Sorry I see now your boat is a 2019 guess they down sized it in 2020. Either way it should not have gone

Thanks for your feedback...electric motor was pretty easy to remove-- 2 of 4 hold down bolts almost could be removed by hand----- must remember to check bolts at each haul out(and Lock-Tite new install)
yes ....my pin completely sheared off... I tried to move gear shaft sticking out ... would not turn... I guess gear case is shot right?
(btw.. your are right .. the Thruster is 110TT ..not 140 i said previously.. so ordered LEW 589454 for LEWMAR COMPOSITE GEARBOX FOR 110TT & SEAR PIN from MAURIPRO-- Hope to get in a week).
Also I am planning on incorporating the existing mounting saddle 552004-- is that feasible? the new gear box does not include this part.

Yes you can use the same mounting bracket. Did you check to make sure there was nothing jamming the prop. Mind would turn with plyers but you could hear the gears were shot. If you find the gear box is shot you might want to follow up with Lewmar to see if they will cover it under warranty. I am still waiting. Good luck with Malapro took a long time to get it
