I am looking at an R25 with a Garman 5212 Chartplotter. Does anyone know approximately how much it would coast to have an autopilot installed? It would not necessarily have to be tied in. I just need one that will keep the boat going straight while I make coffee!

Based on the Garmin web site, you can get the parts you need for between $2K and $2.5K depending on options. Then you need to factor in hoses and labor. I am guessing you will end up spending the better part of $3.5K, unless you do it yourself.

Thank you Jim. I don't have good electronic skills so I would have to have it done. The info you provided is just what I needed to know!

Plumbing, electrical, and carpentry skill are more relevant than knowledge of electronics. The most difficult part of the install is tying in to the hydraulics. The electronics are pretty much plug and play particularly if you don't care about communicating on a network with the chart plotter.
