My Headmate started having problems a couple of weeks ago, back pressure developed and bowl wouldn't pump out, literally so much pressure built up, handle wouldn't go down. I researched and decided to tear apart the pump assembly and give full inspection. All pieces looked ok, nothing installed incorrectly. With pump assembly off, I snaked the discharge line, but my 25' ft snake would not make it to the main tank, it just stops. With no ideas, I put everything back together, filled bowl with water, pumping started out very smooth, but soon too much back pressure developed and couldn't pump. I can't imagine the discharge line being so clogged I can't snake through it! I'm gonna try disconnecting the discharge line from the holding tank side and run my snake in the reverse direction, but that is proving to be very difficult. Anyway, anybody have any thoughts?? Thanks!

Remove the waste tank pump out cap on the deck. Flush the head several times and see if it works properly. If that makes a difference. I would check the waste tank venting. If the tank doesn’t vent the tank builds up pressure after each flush.

Thanks for the response! Even with the waste tank pump- out cap off, I still build up tremendous pressure when I attempt to pump water out of the bowl. I can only think of a completely clogged main line. But I should be able to snake through it or maybe not???

Hi Shawn,

It definitely looks like you have a clog at the other end of the line. Short of getting a longer snake, the only other way would be to detach the hose from the holding tank and approach it from that direction. Not sure what got in there, but it shouldn't be too difficult to resolve this. Let us know.

Cheers!

Ralf

Thanks for the response. I got the hose off the tank side, thanks to a heat gun, snaked it from both sides. It wasn't that bad nor was the junction at the tank. Cleared the vent, bought a new toilet & installing tonight
