Subject: R25/OB's swim step Pontoon boyancy etc ?
I understand the underside of the R25/OB's walk-around integrated swim step encircling the Yamaha 250 HP outboard has pontoon like moldings under the port and starboard sides.
I've been told this provides and helps with certain R25/OB's behavior...
1) Extra buoyancy for the stern when boat is just sitting in water.
2) Helps with keeping stern from dipping down when people stand or jump onto the swim step.
3) Allows boat to get up on plane sooner.
4) Provides improved rolling resistance when underway... and less roll when people stepping onto the boat.
5) One -ive I suppose... Adds extra water resistance due to more hull surface area in the water.
Can anyone respond to these presumable benefits from experience ?
Thank you.
