Greetings,
We have been looking at the R25 and had an opportunity to look at two new 2009's at the same marina. We noticed that both boats had signs of a water leak in the same spot between the two back windows on the port side. Has anyone had this same issue or is this one of those strange quinky dinks?
Thanks,
Joel

I have the same - 09 model... I think it is the hand rail on the roof edge... Perhaps after the boat is in the barn for the winter I will pull the headliner for a look...

Have you been happy with the boat? What major issues have you had?

Thanks,
Joel

Happy?? Let me blather! I've had my R-25 for 2 years 3 months, over 900 hours on the engine and 5,200 nautical miles -- and I really haven't gone on any MAJOR cruises.

My "break in problems" were insignificant and remied by the factory (ok, Andrew Custis!) pretty darn quick. A faulty domestic water pump, a shorted wire, and the discovery of a second bilge pump and a non-labled switch. I liked that "problem".

I had a leak: I caused it! I fixed it. I think my Yanmar manual is still in the deep freezer because I read that was the way to dry them out. It was easier to print one off the web.

You have to remember -- it's a boat. It sits in a battery-like solution and is out in all sorts of weather. Some folks drag them along the highway and that must add to their torment. But they perform well because they are built well, and sometimes we have to take something apart and fix it. That's part of the fun of boating. It's good to rip them apart -- you just never know when that knowledge will repay itself.

I've heard of other manufacturers horror stories, leaks are common, of course, and think Ranger probably has fewer than most.

Joel - Check out the string entitled "Water Stains" started on August 10. You'll see that a few others have experienced the problem! I'm sure the factory has picked up on this issue and is addressing it with future production. Don't let the issue deter you from buying one. They are great boats!

I had what appeared to be a roof leak while boat was on trailer (I use covered slip during season). I woould find water on coountertop or dinett table top. However after much effort to locate a leak I determined that boat often sits on trailer with a slight list to one side. The porthole hatch covers actually catch water due to inner glass cover being lower than openning. If cover is shut but not tightened enough then water will leak from porthole especially with blowing rain. When boat sits on trailer with no list it does not leak. I had suspected leakage from roof prior to determining actual source of water.
