Well I had a new issue pop up with the stern thruster. After all the issues I had with the stern thruster I had last year, i.e. running when I didn't want it to, and not running when I did want it to, I replaced the solenoid and wiring harness last summer. I posted about what a bear it was to get that job done. After working great for a year, they quit on me again. I check connections, and I jumped the fuse to make sure that wasn't it; no help. I can hear the solenoid click but nothing else. I do not hear a whir that would lead me to believe the shear pin broke, and I can move the propeller by hand so I don't think the electrical motor seized, but that is as far as I have gotten. I really don't want to have to pull that thing again because its such a bear to get to. (I invented some new swear words last time) Any ideas on what the problem could be?

I told my bride the solution was to get a 27OB because they don't have stern thrusters, but she's not buying it. 😉

If you hear the motor it would be the shear pin.. You can change that from the inside of the boat.. I know on my R29 it is a chore I hope yours is easier to get at.

We got our boat back a month ago, after paying $1700.00 for the stern thruster repair. The thruster would run on its own. They replaced both the solenoid and the "black box" I would guess, maybe your "black box" is the problem. Good luck.

It could very well be the relay. About $125 from Defender. Unfortunately you will have to remove the motor to get to it. As mentioned earlier it is a small black box, plug and play. However, before you do anything I would call Imtra and explain the symptoms. I feel your pain.
