I noticed that the Ranger Tug home site states

2010 R25's Height on trailer with mast lowered is 13'-5"

whereas

2010 R27's Height on trailer with mast lowered is 11'-8"

Thus the R27 is almost 2-feet lower. This is significant and I wonder how Ranger Tugs has accomplished this or if this is a typo error ?

Any clues ?

I believe our R-27 is 12'-2" with the mast lowered. I measured 12'-8" with the kayaks loaded for our trip to Lake Powell and points beyond. We should splash at Powell around noon day after tomorrow.

Russ & Toni: Thanks. So it seems the Ranger Tug web site is a little off wrt height. I was interested in this as my outside garage with extended opening is about 10-feet and wondered if an R27 with mast down and on trailer would slide in. Seems that it would not unless the mast and funnel were to be removed maybe. I wonder what the height on trailer is without mast and funnel ( and without kayaks on top 😉 )?

If you have not had previously lifted the funnel before this is not as simple as you might think. There is alot of wiring and a radar reflecter inside. However, the mast is easy to remove. At least the older fold-to-side design. Just fold over and hinge design allows sliding to rear to separate the upper hinge from lower plate. However the funnel/wiring channel under the mast holds & protects alot of wiring. Additionally, I believe the roof might leak if this fiberglass section were left off.

Rangers numbers are off on a number of things... Levitation is 11' - 8 1/2" with the mast removed sitting on her new Load Master trailer... These numbers found with a laser transit at the trailer factory...

Can't speak to the accuracy of published data, nor have I actually measured a 27 on a trailer - but I just spoke with Jeff about this at Bremerton.

He stated the boat would fit under my 12' doors.

For what it is worth, I have removed my faux smoke stack a couple of times for wiring issues. Yes, there is radar deflector inside of it (what a great idea!) and there is cables and wiring in it and in the tongue that extends to toward the bow. However, the potential for leak issues are limited to the two places were the cabling and wires penetrate the cabin roof and those have the appropriate amount of sealant on them.

Removing this structure is straight forward but I would not recommend it for anything but repairs.
