About R25 warranties

1. What is the warranty policy provided by Ranger Tugs for the overall boat? I recall it being 1 year for parts & labor.
2. What is the start date for the warranty for the boat and all other items such as engine and Windlass?
3. Does each component such as Windlass, Wallas stove, Refrigerator, bilge pumps, Garmin Nav & Autopilot have its own warranty?
4. Do all items in 3 have to be registered with Manufacturer and if so do I need to supply Serial Numbers (have Serial numbers been recorded somewhere by Ranger Tugs?) ?

BTW - Andrew mentioned servicing requirements to me during our sea trial. I'm wondering if Ranger Tugs or other boat servicing companies offer a prepaid maintenance program, much like they do so for autos. Is this a cost effective soln for keeping maintenance costs reasonable over the long term?

Thanks... 🙂

Gill & Barry,
Your warranty arrangement is between you and Ranger Tugs, so the rest of us Tug Nuts really have no say here.
I would just like to say, that in my experience, the Ranger Tug group in Kent, WA, has completely stood behind their Ranger 25 that I purchased. I think the backup provided by Ranger Tugs is way above average in our culture, and you will be helped to the full extent that the situation allows.
I have had numerous situations where a quick call to Andrew Custis solved the problem, or he offered a solution in short order. My visit to the factory, after one year on the waters, was a delight, with all items that puzzled me taken care of, in short order, at no cost to me. I can't say that will be the case all the time, for everyone. Like I said, it's between you and Ranger Tugs. They stand by their boats.
There, how's that? Did that answer your question?

Here's what the Ranger Tugs responded with for same questions as I posted...

The hull warranty is 5 years.
Systems warranty is 1 year.
Engine warranty is 5 years on major components.
The warranty starts tomorrow July 17th for me which is delivery date to our Marina.
Ranger Tugs takes care of the registration of the boat and the engine.

If I have any items that require warranty then simply give Ranger Tugs a call and they will take care of it.

This all sounds close to what you've posted. Thanks.... 🙂

Might want to check on that engine warranty........

Are you saying the 5 year engine warranty should be questioned ? Thanks...

Well, on the Cummins engine it is only a TWO year warranty. And Cummins does NOT sell an extended warranty for the engine.... :?

The YANMAR engine warranty for Recreational Applications is in two parts (taken from the YANMAR Limited Warranty Handbook)

Part 1. Limited warranty period is 24 months or 2000 hrs after date of delivery (which ever comes first).
Part 2. Extended Limited warranty period is 5 years or 3000 hrs after date of delivery (which ever comes first).

The 3000 hrs and assuming 8 hrs running engine each day will provide 375 contiguous days of cruising enjoyment. 😀

Dividing 3000 hrs by 5 yrs yields 600 hrs per year or 50 hrs per month or 12.5 hrs per week, etc.... 🙂

"Unless otherwise provided in writing by YANMAR, the Limited Warranty Period for Yanmar Marine Products is twenty-four (24) months or 2000 hours after date of delivery to the original purchaser or as previously stated, whichever occurs first. An Extended Limited Warranty applies solely to the following Yanmar engine components: cylinder block casting, cylinder head casting, crankshaft forging, camshaft forging, flywheel housing, timing gear case, timing gears and connecting rod forging. These specific parts are warranted against defects in material and workmanship for sixty (60) months or 3000 hours after date of delivery to the original purchaser. This Extended Limited Warranty runs concurrent with the standard Limited Warranty period. Any Yanmar Marine Product or part repaired or replaced under warranty will assume the original Limited Warranty and the remaining Limited Warranty Period or ninety (90) days, whichever occurs last. Other Yanmar engine components that are subject to EPA regulations may have extended warranty periods as required by law. Please refer to your Operation Manual for further information."
