We have a Yanmar 110 on our R25 and need to change the oil. Obviously, the oil can't just drain out into drip pan, but how does one get the old oil out? I have heard of a pump that sucks oil from the dipstick opening but I've never had an inboard engine and am completely naive on how to proceed. If such a pump exists, a name and model would be appreciated. Any other guidance would not be looked down on. Thanks!!!!

I use a 12 volt oil transfer pump you can get from Amazon for about $25.00. It hooks up to your boat batteries and transfers to a container of your choice. You will still get some oil in the bilge from the filter removal but will clean up with a few wipes, I also remove the boats plug and wash out bilge area with degreaser, but not a good ideal in the water!
Hope this helps, and good luck. Bob

I use one similar to zekeandboone's link. I use two sizes of tubes. The first one that goes over the dipstick tube and sucks out the majority. Then the second one goes into the dipstick tube and sucks out the rest. Be sure to warm the engine prior to draining the oil, otherwise it will take a long time. Even so, it will still take a half hour or so to get it all.

Joe:
I have the same engine and have used the same pump as in the previous link. It works well after the engine has been warmed up a bit. If you have any other questions about the Yanmar 110, I may be able to help you since I've had my R-25 for going on 9 years and have done all the maintenance myself.
