The R25OB comes with a stainless flag staff, which I’m guessing has fixed connection dimensions for attaching a flag. Does anyone know the flag size that fits the standard flag staff? Also are the connection points fixed or adjustable? I’m wanting to purchase a new flag to raise upon taking delivery later this summer.

Congratulations Jim. We just got our R27OB, which is similar in the flag (burgee) department. There are three flags. Top, bow and stern. The top mast will accommodate flags of various dimensions using the supplied cord. The other two are standard burgees. Check Cathy’s Burgees for a wide range of standard and custom burgees. She made a real nice one for our boat.

Jim, I just went through this same process for our 2021 R29S which also comes with a stern mounted stainless flag pole. The welded eyes are at 12 inches for a 12 x 18 inch flag. I believe that the 12 x 18 is too small of a flag for the 29 so I purchased the next size up and made it work. (Added another brass grommet for the 12 inch eye and attached the bottom grommet directly to the pole. I have always used zip ties to attach our American flag to the stern pole because they are quiet and keep the flag stretched tight.) You may have difficulty finding a 12 x 18 inch Taylor made sewn 50 star American flag because they have been out of stock at most places I searched, but you have time, and I suspect the 12 X 18 will not look too small on the 25 (that is what we flew on our R25SC). (We hope to splash mid May).

You might want to research flag etiquette for pleasure craft and proper size flag for the size of boat.
The old rule of thumb was 1 inch for every foot of boat, rounded up to the next size that is made.
Lots of nautical history and customs associated with flying flags on water craft. Have fun, learn a little history to pass down to the crew. Good luck on your new boat! Bob

Todd mentioned the stern stainless flagstaff on his new R29S has the flag connection rings 12” apart. Can anyone with an R25OB confirm this is the same on your boat? Thanks for looking into this for me.

Ok I was able to get you all the measurements for the flags.
Burgee Flag is standard 12" x 18"
Mast Flag is adjustable and could actually fit a 24" x 36" however I think that would be too large. It can fit the 16" x 24" nicely or the smaller 12" x 18"
Stern Flag at swim platform is fixed at 12" x 18" flag size however we currently use the swim step for access often so we have removed this flag pole temporarily
Hope these help and let us know what else you might need.
Cheers

Thanks Matt, hope you’re enjoying your 25OB. Look forward to seeing you at the Roche Harbor RT Rendezvous this September, assuming you’re attending and hopefully they’re able to host it.
