R25OB VBerth Measurements

Any new R25OB owners out there willing to take a tape measure to their vberth and send me the max dimensions? I only need total length and total width at the widest without the cushions.

These are approximate as I used the tape measure from my cell phone. Widest point is 6’3”, distance from bow of bed to port side is 6’4” and from bow to starboard side of bed is 5’9”. Hope this helps.

Can I ask why you need these measurements? Is it for figuring out the size needed for some form of extra padding such as memory foam. If so then bow to aft end of the stock berth mattresses along center line (let's say this is denoted as L), and the max width at furthest aft end of the berth's mattress (suspect this would be the port side) denoted as W is what you need to use to purchase a foam mattress 'queen' or 'king' size. I did this on my R25 Classic back in 2009 and thought a 'queen' size was just the ticket, but it was a bit short for the overall length L. Is I had to cut a separate piece for the berth's bow section.

I laid the foam mattress on the dock, and then removed the v-berth's mattresses and laid them upside down on the laid out foam mattress and mark around the laid out mattress forms using a Sharpie pen, making the outline about 1" wider.

I then used an electric knife to cut along the Sharpie marked line(s). The electric knife allow a very smooth cut and slices through the foam as if it were butter.

The extra inch I mention above is because I wanted the foam mattress to fit up tightly to the hull sides, and for when laying down on the foam it would tend to pull away from the sides.

I can't say I did a perfect job, but it was satisfactory for me.

Quite honestly, the best way to improve the softness of the V-berth's stock mattresses is to remove the stock mattress material and replace with 6" thick foam material, and cover back up with the stock mattress covering as best you can. The add-on 4" foam mattress I made tended to move about when sleeping down on it, and was annoying. Mind you, replacing the stock mattress material and replacing with memory foam, and reinstalling the original mattress coverings is a lot more expensive to do, but you get a much better end result IMO.

Thanks for the measurements. To answer the query regarding our plans, here they are:
We are inspired by az9133bm's treatment of his V-berth on the R23, whereby he removed the existing seat cushions and back rest, and constructed a plywood platform he can raise and lower with gas springs. You can find his pictures in the Album titled Adding a Berth.
Next, we are going to utilize the Froli travel sleep system ( https://nickleatlantic.com/ ) specifically designed for V-berth applications.
Finally, in lieu of the existing seat cushions and back rest, we will use a 3" Latex topper cut to size. We have enough sewing skills to produce covers and bedding for this system.
We have no intention of using the space for anything other than sleeping. And storage, of course!
We wanted measurements to be sure we get a large enough topper and enough of the Froli system to accommodate the space. Given supply chain issues, we are trying to amass our raw materials for modifications sooner rather than later.
