Ran into a bit of an issue with the shaft seal slinging saltwater from seal up on the side of the engine compartment ..... there is a computer back there and wanted to minimize the mess so I made a "prototype" splash guard and just temporarily put it in place with industrial velcro stuff (the plastic stuff - not the cloth fuzzy) and it seems to work. Over the winter I will fabricate something better with better support but wanted to see if it works. I used Home Depot clear acrylic and cut to size. I had to straddle a hose so I cut a slot for the hose to cut thru, and edged it with electrical tape for now ... when I make the one this winter I will use that plastic door edging stuff to better protect it - you can get at any automotive store for edging a "bumper guard" for car doors and inexpensive. Hope this is useful to others. I will update when I make the final one this winter. One of the things I am curious about is that in the exhaust riser, are those screws or bolts that it is mounted with. I would like to mount a lip there if I can loosen that screw about a half turn and slide 18 gauge aluminum strip or stainless, and then tighten it up, to catch the stbd side of the splash guard. I guess I need to ask the Factory about that one.

I just cut a milk jug to fit. Has worked for about 1,000 engine hours. See photo.

your idea better than mine! Will do it this winter in the shop (I am trailerable so it comes home every winter where I can put it inside and futz with it)
