On our 2023 R27, the j be Bimini or cockpit cover comes off. We remove for cleaning and renewing the water repellency. We had a cockpit enclosure made, which also is removable.

Like most actions this is "location, location" dependent. Our 2011 RT 27 had the bimini top when we bought in August and did not realize that it also had a full set of side curtains. I found them deep in the cave and installed them when the weather turned. We use the boat year around and install the curtains in the fall and remove for Summer operation. We find that we spend a lot of our time when at docks, or at anchor in the cockpit, and have comfortable rocking chairs. Lot of rain and cool winters and warm summers in the Pacific Northwest.
