Hello
I have a R27 2019 and I love it. I have had a little problem with both windows when I get water rain or whatever and it doesn't get the water with the windshield blades off the window and can be hard to see out of. Now the factory says that this system isn't the best and they adjusted the blade arm a little it helped. They said you can use rainx or wax that helps however spending big $$$$$ I would think they would have a better idea.
So is there any tug nuts out there with a great idea
Thank you.

I am not defending the quality of the wiper blade system on our 2014 R27 as I think they are generally fairly useless and we rely on Rain X most of the time. However, when water is coming over the bow in 4-6 foot seas every little bit of extra vision can help! I have found the main issue with the wiper system here in the northwest is salt buildup in the hinge. When this buildup occurs sometimes the blades don’t even touch the window! I regularly rinse the hinges thoroughly (fresh water or salt off) and then spray them with WD-40 or equivalent while working the hinge back and forth multiple times. Eventually thy loosen back up. If they don’t snap back firmly against the glass they are gummed up and you need to keep working on them!

I removed the plastic covers on the knuckles. All they do is trap the salt and prevent the arm from making good contact. I also occasionally lubricate the knuckles and wax the windows. Wipe the rubber blades with ArmorAll helps, I use that on my vehicles also.

We have a 2018 RT-27, RainX has been our answer to the lousy wipers, works pretty well. We apply it 2 or 3 times a season depending on how it is holding up, doesn't take much.

Thank you for the great info everyone

Another shout out here for RainX to help with an otherwise pretty poor wiper system. The other thing I've considered, and may do over the winter is to replace the stock arm springs with something a tad bit stronger. My R-27 is under covered moorage and I apply RainX three or four times a season.

Agree that the main problem is zero pressure against the glass due to hinge corrosion. I do see stainless steel wiper arms available at marine stores, but they're typically very expensive, especially when you're talking 4 of them. Have any of you installed premium marine wiper arms? Do they work and last any better than the stock ones?

I have a product called hydrosyrum that works better than rain ex and super easy to apply. It lasts 3 to 6 months. Spray it on and wipe with a microfiber cloth. I can do all my Windows in 10 minutes. I have yet to turn on my wipers on my r 23. Any interest in purchasing get back to me. I use it on my stainless too. Kevin

Hi Toki,

I have not tried the stainless wiper blades as I don’t think stainless would help. It is not really corrosion that is the issue but rather salt buildup in the hinge. Spraying fresh water on the hinge while working it back and forth dissolves the salt buildup. Once dissolved I see no sign of corrosion. I have repeated the process many many times and the wiper function (pressure against the glass) always returns to normal (which admittedly is not great, I like the idea of a stronger spring!).

I would not bother to spend the money on the stainless unless the hinge was somehow protected from the salt buildup.

On my 27OB, mine have not worked well from day 1, and I picked up the boat new. Which is what drove me to try the RainX, and I don't think I have tried using the wipers since.
