My tug has 243 hrs on it now when purchased had 172. I had same alarm alarm for water in fuel sound 3 different times. Had it repaired twice so far waiting on repair this time. Has anyone else had this problem. I buy my fuel at same location as all my boating friends with diesel and nobody is having same problem. Any suggestions

What were the "repairs"? Is there actually water in the fuel filter separator bowl? There possibly could have been water in the tank when you bought the boat. I use a diesel fuel conditioner called FPPF that is recommended by Yanmar. I treat every gal. of diesel that goes into the boat, 800 hours later have never had a drop of water. (knock on wood).

Sorry, I can't be of any help, but I am just wondering if the Tugs come with a fuel polishing system? :?:

I have had the same problem recently. After checking the fuel bowl under the filter and finding that there was no water around the sensor, I disconnected the sensor.

Norm.

I have been told that sometimes the Valvetec fuel additive or similar product can be the culprit. I had the same issue. Ran the fuel through and refilled with no additive fuel. No issues since.

It takes very little water to trip the water sensor and record. That's good.

If the water sensor trips drain the contents of the ball into an empty clean soda bottle. And set the bottle aside. Using a second soda bottle poor a few ounces of alcohol into the top of the Racore. Alaoli alcohol to drain and dry completely. Close the drain on the bottom of the Racore and pour the previously drain fuel back in the filter decanting the bottom half inch or so leaving that waste in the soda bottle.

Put the cap back on the Racore being sure to lubricate the gaskets lately. If nothing else is available are you suntan lotion.

Dispose of the two soda bottles with waist alcohol in the draining from the diesel fuel and approve matter.

I do this each time I change the fuel filter and I'm always surprised when the soda bottle has some water in the bottom.
