R29 CB “Radar Not Available” issue

Hello all!

I am in the process of buying a Ranger R29 CB. It’s a 2018 model. During the sea trial, the surveyor was unable to get the radar to work. All other systems in the nav stack worked fine, but when selecting radar, the message “not available” was displayed over a basic radar screen with no information. Has anyone seen this issue before? If so, was the fix easy or something complicated? Thanks for any insight!

Firstly check the fuse block to ensure the fuse isn't blown.

Second, check the data cable connection on the underside of the radar and behind the plotter. This is a standard RJ45 network connector and is prone to green corrosion which causes connection issues.

Thanks Admiral...it was indeed the fuse. Original owner and surveyor did not know where those were—neither did I. Seller found them, replaced the fuse and it’s back in business. Appreciate the help!
