Subject: R29 CB's rotating helm seat on Command Bridge

I've now had a chance along with other family members to experience the wonderful Command Bridge on my new R29 CB. The one thing we all agree on is that the helm seat is not really secured from rotating backwards at the slightest touch.

For example, when about to sit down on the helm seat with placing a hand on top of the backrest there's a tendency for the seat to start rotating backwards. Even after this and sitting down, if one leans back into the backrest the seat will have a tendency to rotate some and gives you an uneasy/unstable feeling.

I looked all around under the seat thinking there must be a lock of some sort to hold the seat and secure it from rotating, but found no such mechanism.

I called RT for advice and was told there is not a seat locking mechanism and that they would look into what could be done and will follow up with some advice for me to explore to make the seat less likely to rotate as I've described here.

Do others experience this issue with the seat being too easy to start rotating ? If so, what have you done if anything ?

Thanks.... 🙂

My first thought is to strap the articulated arms together with Velcro tape at each side. This should go a long way to restrict the seat from rotating. I'll try this first as it's an easy thing to do; no drilling or screwing in bolts etc.

Has anyone experience this tendency for the seat to tip backwards far too easily ? Is it a spring stiffness or sprig adjustment for the articulated arm hinges that need adjusting ?
