Subject: R29 CB's upper Chart plotter's display reflection/contrast

The Chart plotter on the upper deck is exposed to a lot of light and sunshine so I'm wondering if the plotter's display is bright enough in all light conditions to be clearly visible ?

Also, I have to assume it's installed to be fully weather proofed, right ? ... as must been done for the other controls; bow/stern thruster toggles. VHF radio and Garmin and Volvo gauges etc.

Thanks.... 🙂

You should have the same 7612 on your soon to be delivered (patience  ) CB that I do. And that thing is clearly legible in the the direct FL sun, even in August, even with sunglasses on. No issues with rain or saltwater either. In fact, everything up there seems impervious so far. However I do always use the covers, both hard and cloth, whenever the CB isn't being used.

I find that the chartplotter screen on my CB can be hard to read in direct sunlight, so just installed an anti-glare protector ($21 for a pack of 2 from Amazon). I haven't had the opportunity to test it yet, so can't comment on how well it works though.

That anti-glare screen seems like a sensible approach.... thank you. 😀
