You lift slightly and put a block under the hatch to hold it open. Then you reach under the starboard side and remove the pin that holds the ram to the lift bracket. Once the pin is removed you can manually lift the hatch the rest of the way and lean it back against the rear seat. If you don't stop the ram as soon as the hatch is closed, you end up pulling the ram tighter against the slide bracket than you want it. That over- run will limit the amount of space you can manually lift the hatch to pull the pin. I believe on older models there was a round white plastic access port on the inside wall of the starboard storage locker that you could remove to access the locking pin. (If you don't know what the pin looks like I suggest a quick search for "locking pin" or "wire locking pin" or "safety coupler pin". They are pretty standard items found at hardware stores.)
